Postby Moskiz » Tue Aug 09, 2005 4:49 pm

you need to get a better video card.. just go to Best Buy and ask them for a Video card with either Pixel Shaders or Smart Shaders. they can show you what you need. I would suggest if you are looking for something good buy semi cheap to get a GeForce 5700

I'd go a bit higher than 5700 (sorry Gninja) ... A 5700 will play EQ2 nicely on your PC (assuming the rest of your setup meets specs), but If you ever wanna play Battlefield 2 or any of the new games around, they'll ask you for - minimum - a 5900 and preferably a card in the 6000 series...

If you can afford it, go look up some Geforce 6600 cards, they shouldn't be that much costlier.

6600 is getting closer to 200 dollars and being he is just in the 8th grade he probably can't afford it. 5700 is cheap and runs EQ2 well. I can play Battlefield on it just fine as well

Family clause, Moskiz....if your mom has a toon in game, have her send one of the officers a tell - have her register on the boards though, and have her post what toon she wants to be guilded with.

XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3/8x-AGP/TV-Out/Dual-DVI (Lite Retail Box) - $145 w/free shipping US

I didn't mean to say that the 6600' was as cheap as the 5700' which, you're right Gninja, is cheap and will run EQ2 nicely.

My argument was, that if Moskiz had a bit more to spend, which btw. is not uncommon for 8th graders if they have an after school job and some sense of saving their earnings =), the 6600 would serve as a more up2date product, and a better investment in the future.

But again, before you go spend money on either a 5700' or a 6600' (remember, there's also a 5900' and 6200' inbteween) make sure that the rest of your PC is adequate to run EQ2. I'd be worried if it had less than a 2 GHz CPU and unless you have 512 MB RAM in it, EQ2 simlply won't start - no matter the size of your graphics card.

... and btw Gninja, I was refering to BF2 .... not BF 1942

oryou could just be like meandrun a radeon 9250, it supports every game that I play beatifully, and only cost me $50. Igot it off of Ebay, so you might need somebody to get it for you moskiz, but it's a good card forthe price
