Hi all,
Just an update since I have been out of contact for awhile.
My new mission in Kuwait is going smoothly, if not a bit boring. I have been
assigned to the 18th Airborne Corp Re-Deployment Cell. What the job entails is
purely logistical support; I organize movement for personal and equipment, have
them inspected and pass customs, arrange transportation locally and set the
return dates for the soldiers to fly home. I am also assisting in the High
Priority cell organization and set up for the new units, continuing with my old
missions also. The only thing I do not do anymore is ride ââ¬Åshooterââ¬ï¿¾ for the part
runs anymore. Instead I ride guard for the ââ¬ÅOff postââ¬ï¿¾ missions in civilian
clothingââ¬Â¦ things like picking people up at the Kuwait City International
Airport, local purchase of needed items, and business appointments.
I do want to thank everyone for the kind words over the holidays, believe me
when I say, they were needed =) .Some of you might not know that I have been
extended in Kuwait for an extra 2 months or so. As it looks, I will be returning
to the continental US in the first week of May. Hopefully my Demobilization site
will be Fort Benning GA., Instead of Camp Shelby, Mississippi.
The temperature here has cooled of drastically since the summer. The nights are
in the 40s and the days are mid 60s to low 70s. Its pleasant for the middle of
January, I do have to say. The rain is even pleasant this time of year (we have
some at least), but the clouds burns off by mid-morning.
Well, I guess thatââ¬â¢s all I have to say for now, I hope you are all doing well
and hope to hear from you.
