I have been watching the development of this product for several years and I don't think it's ready for prime time. It may compete with the Wii and find it's niches but it's no console killer. The biggest killer for it may be the inconsistencies of ISP's around the globe. It's going to be tough to find that middle ground of playability and robust content.

I completely agree, the mere fact that you can't serve the world, or even the states from the same data center speaks loads, then again ... not all games are FPS games. EQ2 and the like is very playable, even with a 200ms ping.

Vaporware as this may be, the technology and concept is still very very interresting imo.

OnLive went live today.

Unfortunately only in the US. Competitor GaiKai might be ready next year. Lets see if things start to change.

OnLive switched from 15$ monthly fee to free access and the service will be extended to Europe next year. One thing that's even more evil than OnLive's restriction to the US is that it in the UK it will only be BT (and its subsidary Plusnet) customers who will be allowed to use the service. One more reason to fight for Network neutrality!
