I am a big Mark Twain fan (this film is based on his unfinished final book)and unfortunately watching this out of context would probably make most people wonder.

I don't think the creators of this animated piece intended it to be for children as most of Mark Twains work had some very moralistic and adult themes; he just liked writing stories with children and adolescents as the main characters in order to portray the transition of innocence to awareness.

Personally I found the piece interesting. The concept of Nihilism tends to upset people because it challenges the precepts of those that consider themselves moral, just and good as it renders those values as meaningless. The fact that Twain equates Satan not with evil but rather with ambivilance is profound.
